Yesterday for the 4th of July we went to the Del Mar Fair in San Diego. We went with Grandma and Grandpa McClellan, aunt Jamie, uncle Ryan, aunt Nikole, and cousins James and Ashlyn. We had a lot of fun trying out different kinds of food, walking through the vendor booths, seeing all the farm animals, watching fireworks, and letting the kids ride the kiddie rides. The barbequed corn was so delicious and so were the fried zucchini. Makayla loved her pink snow cone that we got her. I would say that the highlight of the day for me was watching Makayla with all the farm animals, and her going on the kiddie rides. Mark took her into the petting farm and she fed the baby cow, lamb and chick, right out of her hand. This is a major step for her because she is usually excited to see the animals, but never wants to touch them.
She also went on a pony ride for the first time, and she absolutely loved it! She could not stop waving and smiling to all the people watching.
Makayla went on the caterpillar roller coaster with Grandma...they were brave sitting in the very front. Ryan and James were right behind them. They all had fun!
Makayla also rode in a canoe all by herself. She loved touching the water...so much for keeping her arms in the ride at all times.
On the bumper boats, Makayla would get spinning so fast and laugh and laugh. I was a little scared that she was going to fly off the side, seeing that there was nothing strapping her in. Good thing they had a guy in the water with them to slow them down when needed.
Once we got out to our car, we waited in the overcrowded parking lot for an hour without moving out of our parking spot. Absolutely ridiculous! My darling husband was a little fed up and was gone for about 45 minutes. He apparently had walked up the the exit and complained to the sheriff there about the situation. Other cars from closer parking lots were cutting corners and getting out of the lot much faster, but causing the rest of the lots to sit impatiently in the cars, not moving. The Sherriff didn't really care much. So, Mark walked half way back and started directing cars and telling them were to go, to get our lots moving. We were able to get out the parking spot and out of the lot within 20 minutes. We didn't find out that it was all because of Mark until he came back to our car. I just love my husband....always taking care of us!

Hey Bri,
long time no talk! How is life going for ya? Your daughter is soooo cute! And it looks like you guys had a pretty active fourth of July! I love the story of your hubby directing traffic. Leave it up to the police to do nothing about it!!
Sounds like you guys had a great 4th. I bet Makayla loved riding that pony. She looks so cute. I love how she is leaning to touch the water. You have a cute little family.
What a fun filled and exciting day! Looks like Makayla had a blast, that's the best. And what a guy...so cool that he took charge like that.
